Fall Florals, Jewel Tones, and Industrial Charm: A Bold Wedding at The Lace Factory
You know those weddings that hit the perfect sweet spot between cool and cozy? The ones that manage to be both laid-back and jaw-droppingly styled, where the vibe is "effortless" but the details are dialed way, way up?
Yeah. This one was that wedding.
Set against the moody, industrial charm of The Lace Factory in Deep River, CT, this celebration had it all: jewel-tone gowns, locally grown blooms in rich fall hues, and a ceremony space that looked like it was pulled straight from a painter’s dream. Add in a couple who leaned fully into seasonal color, texture, and personality (plus a floral-forward approach to design that had us swooning from prep to tear-down), and you’ve got a standout wedding we’re still dreaming about.
If you’re planning a fall wedding in Connecticut—or love the idea of sustainable wedding flowers, cozy industrial venues, and color-drenched design—buckle up, friend. This one’s for you.

“We can’t thank Emma enough for our perfect wedding florals. We were truly blown away the moment we walked into the venue, and saw how stunning our venue looked, thanks to her. She understood our vision exactly and went above and beyond to help make our wedding day pure magic!”
bouqets and bouts
Let’s talk about that bouquet.
This lush, garden-style beauty packed a serious punch. Designed with saturated, locally grown fall blooms, it featured orange dahlias, burgundy ranunculus, peach lisianthus, and deep plum zinnias. Trailing jasmine vines and fluttery greenery gave it movement and romance, while the bold palette brought just the right amount of drama.
This bouquet wasn’t for the faint of heart—it was wild, expressive, and beautifully layered. A bouquet that didn’t whisper “fall,” but shouted it with feeling.
And for the guys? Structured boutonnieres in the same saturated tones—burgundy spray roses, fiery orange ranunculus, and textured sprigs of greenery. Classic meets vibrant. Clean, crisp, but not too serious.
Pro tip: Personal flowers are where we love to weave in extra storytelling. From color symbolism to locally grown stems, these are the details your photographer will zoom in on—so let’s make them count.
ceremony
The Lace Factory’s light-filled ceremony room gives you instant atmosphere: soft drapery, industrial beams, and vintage charm in every corner. But we weren’t about to let all that beauty float by without grounding it in florals.
Cue the ground floral installation.
We created a lush, garden-style base that ran low and wide across the front of the ceremony space, layered with bold orange and yellow dahlias, deep burgundy scabiosa, trailing amaranthus, and textured greens. The result? A “blooming from the floor” effect that felt organic and immersive—like the couple had stepped into a wild autumn garden just to say their vows.
And because we love an eco-conscious floral moment, that entire installation was repurposed during the reception (more on that below!).
Guests were welcomed with a floral-accented seating chart, plus cocktail tables featuring sweet bud vases in bold colors—a small-but-mighty touch that let the palette shine from the very first impression.
reception
This reception design? It was all about intentional layering.
Set against The Lace Factory’s raw, industrial textures, the floral and tablescape elements brought in warmth, color, and softness in all the right ways. Think crisp white linens, simple neutral napkins, and then bam—lush garlands of greenery spilling down the banquet tables, dotted with vibrant bud vases in glass and ceramic.
Florals included golden calendula, deep burgundy scabiosa, bright marigolds, orange celosia, and pops of plum zinnias. Each stem was chosen for its shape, hue, and seasonal richness—because when you’re working with fall’s best offerings, you want to let them sing.
The tables were anchored by amber votives, black candle holders, and clear glass pillars—all casting a romantic, flickering glow as the sun set through the venue’s massive windows.
What made this setup stand out? Balance. We alternated floral groupings and open spaces, creating negative space so that each design element had a moment to shine. Nothing felt crowded or overdone—it was bold, but breathable.
The sweetheart table got its own floral glow-up: a dramatic, cascading design using the same grounded floral installation from the ceremony (yes, that’s the sustainable win we teased earlier). It framed the newlyweds in color, motion, and intimacy—all while maximizing the floral investment. Smart. Stylish. Swoon-worthy.
Things to Note (aka our Favorite Behind-the-Scenes Moments)
Okay, let’s talk repurposing. Because sustainability isn’t just about where your flowers come from—it’s about how they’re used.
The grounded ceremony floral? It didn’t get tossed or left behind. Instead, we carefully transitioned it to frame the sweetheart table, transforming it into a romantic, overgrown garden moment for the reception. This is one of our favorite tricks as a CT wedding florist: get more mileage out of your blooms with intentional, flexible design.
We also loved how this couple trusted bold color in a space that many might play safe. The Lace Factory—with its industrial textures and soft neutral walls—was the perfect canvas for saturated, seasonal florals. We leaned into that contrast to create something both moody and joyful.
And finally, shout-out to the locally grown blooms. We sourced many of the stems from The Connecticut Flower Collective, making this an eco-friendly wedding rooted in local seasonality. It’s design that feels good and does good.
This wedding at The Lace Factory was a true reflection of the couple’s fun-loving personalities and love for vibrant, seasonal details. From the locally sourced flowers to the thoughtful repurposing of ceremony elements, every detail was carefully considered to create an atmosphere that was both unique and timeless. The blending of industrial charm and organic beauty, combined with the couple’s bold use of color, made this celebration unforgettable. The Lace Factory, with its romantic yet rustic ambiance, provided the perfect backdrop for this joyful celebration of love.
